Bathroom Remodel

Because I know you all care so much about our bathroom! Here are some before, during, and after pictures from our renovation. Luke’s First Dentist Visit

When Chloe went to her first visit to the dentist, I knew she’d be fine. She laid perfectly still and did exactly what they said. Now, if you know Luke, you know why I was a bit anxious about his first visit. I wasn’t sure how he’d respond to people doing strange and new things in his mouth. However, he was perfect! The hygienist was super, talking him through everything, explaining her equipment to him, showing him how it would feel by testing it on his finger, etc. Luke was excited that he got to pick a prize from the treasure box when he was done and that he got to watch cartoons while Mommy took her turn.

Family Vacation

We spent last week in Michigan with my (Janna’s) family. 10 adults, 12 kids (ages 7 and under), 2 babysitters, and one dog all in one house. It was chaotic but so much fun Here are several pictures from our week.

Gone fishin’

Grandpa Coates came over on Monday and helped Chloe and Luke get their fishing poles rigged up to use at our church’s pond.

Grandpa was the only one to catch anything, but the kids were excited about it!

Chloe liked using Grandpa's pole better and says she would catch more fish if she could use it all the time. She did manage to snag a few goldfish.

Luke tried to scare up some fish with his net and by throwing rocks all day at them.

Gardening

Last week we got my garden planted. This year it will be corn, two kinds of tomatoes (I’m trying to get my spaghetti sauce to taste better), sweet red peppers, green beans, carrots, and zucchini. The kids were anxious to help.

Look who’s 5!

The past two days have been a celebration of Chloe’s birthday. These first pictures are from today. After eating out together for Mother’s Day, we headed home with Grandma and Grandpa Coates for birthday cake and presents. Here’s the beautiful birthday girl. One of her presents was a new bat for T-ball. Another favorite was a pair of roller skates. Here she is testing them out. When she heard that I had a pair of roller blades she asked me to put them on and skate with her.

Saturday was Chloe’s birthday party. Here are the cupcakes we made for the day. This year we celebrated with a gymnastics/obstacle course party at the YMCA. Fifteen kids gathered for an hour of fun stations with all the gymnastics equipment (with two gymnastics teachers overseeing/leading everything), and then an hour in the party room where we had pizza, opened presents, and had cake (with a party hostess who saw to all the details). It was a lot of fun. Here is the gang from the party.

9 Months

On April 11 Levi turned 9 months old. About a week prior to that, his first tooth made its appearance. He was proud to show it off At his nine month check up we found out he weighs 19 pounds and hadn’t grown at all (they chalked this up to incorrect measuring at his 6 month appointment). He was given the green light to eat solid foods and has now tried Veggie Puffs, bananas, and green beans. He is getting around on the ground with a combination of scooting, reaching, pushing with his toes, and rolling. He still loves to clap and peek-a-boo is a favorite game. We love his smile. Our new foyer

As another piece of our redecorating plan for our living room/foyer/hallway we decided to get a new floor in our foyer. These pictures obviously aren’t taken from the exact same perspective but they give you the idea of the progress. The first picture shows the fake red brick vinyl that we were dying to get rid of. The vinyl was actually glued to the subfloor which had to be torn out as well. Dave Oliver (of Oliver Tile of Ohio ~ doliver1@cinci.rr.com), a friend from church, tore out the old, fixed everything to be as it should be, and then tiled our new floor. We LOVE the way it turned out.
