Easter(ish) festivities at the Y
This weekend we took the kids to the festivities at the Y. It started with a breakfast and then crafts. After the craft room we came across a room with a line into it. Levi, thinking he was big stuff, shoved his way into the room to the front of the line, took one look at the “Easter Bunny” and ran screaming back out again! Chloe and Luke, however, went and sat on its lap for a picture (we don’t “do” the Easter Bunny thing, but they still thought it was fun). Last was the egg hunt. It was divided into ages 0-3 and 4-6 and 7+. First we took Levi to the 0-3 one. We figured Luke could go with the older kids since he’s almost 4. With the mad dash to the millions of eggs laying around the playground, Levi got all of two eggs before they were gone. Next we went to the 4-6 year olds’ hunt. Due to the wet grass, the hunt was moved to the parking lot where eggs littered the entire blacktop (see picture). All of the kids were in one straight line and at the “go” went running to recover the eggs. The sweep took about three minutes total. Chloe got 4 eggs in all. Luke managed to sneak over to the 7 year old side. Their “hunt” hadn’t started yet so there were eggs aplenty over there. We managed to reign him back in to where he belonged and then had to search for Chloe who had disappeared. All in all it was a fun morning but the hunt left something to be desired.
